The "Lisgar" Yards are a great example of a 350 head breeding yard.
This yard was an improvement on the Nockatunga yards with the entry pen squared up with the laneway which allows for better flow and greater capacity, the brief included;
Open working race to allow easy needling/back lining of stock in the race
Curved race & 360 degree forcing tub for an easy efficient & safe workflow, the curved race is also adjustable vee to ensure that no size beast can turn around in the race and waste hours of your time
Calf race ending as close as practical to the working race to facilitate a roof installed over the working area at a later date
4 way draft after the crush
Plus a small lane to return stock back around if they need to be reprocessed - yep even the best miss sometimes.
Diamond yards and a laneway linking all the draft pens back to the working area
This also links the working pens to feed pens
Any pen can be emptied back to feed/cooler pens without emptying any other pen.
This reduces double handling and allows cooler paddocks/feed pens to be used for the yards to work much larger mobs of cattle than the 350 head
