"Home Valley" 250 Head Cattle Yards
A true test of effective cattle yard design is when stock move straight into the race and naturally flow to the other end without pausing.
This yard, based on a slight adaptation of the 'Weean' yard design, achieves that by eliminating sharp corners and leveraging cattle’s instinct to move in circles. This yard also features a serpentine force; from the moment they enter, cattle follow a continuous curved path through the yards. The curved race fills naturally with minimal need for pushing, and once an animal enters, it follows the curve all the way to the exit without hesitation or turning back.
The Home Valley yards has the capacity to hold 250 head both before and after the 5-way drafting pound, as well as another 250 head before and after the 2-3 way race draft. This setup ensures efficient flow and management of cattle throughout the yard.
